The Premise of PBF: Targeted use in the construction of our projects, the example of the Memorial Clinic in Lalibela
The appreciation, stability and strengths of PBF have increased considerably in Lalibela despite the current political and military tensions. Our people are facing great challenges due to the conflicts and vested interests of the government. They have led to a decline in job opportunities and an increase in poverty. There is a lack of economic activities in Lalibela. That is why we buy building materials from different companies and do not rely on a single company. Fortunately, our biggest problem is not so much the cost of the goods, but the consideration of different businesses. In this way, we create additional income opportunities and reduce poverty.
PBF has brought the following benefits to our population:
- we buy locally producedgoods, such as wood and grass clippings, from farmers in the area. This supports the local economy and promotes sustainable activities.
2 –Students participate in the daily work, covering their tuition fees and transportation costs.
- residents in the area surrounding the construction zone are involved in the tasks.
- for the mutual benefitof all, most of the building materials are sourced locally and purchased from various companies.
- tasks are delegatedand not assigned exclusively to a single person or group. This promotes a sense of community and awareness of shared responsibility.
- women and young peopleare also encouraged to participate in the construction work. This promotes diversity and integration in the workforce.
- we cover the costs of medical carefor people who fall ill while working.
Every day, over 40 people take part in the construction work.
