PBF Support for EMC Clean Water Project in Gashena

Access to clean water is a basic human right but many in rural Ethiopia continue to suffer from waterborne diseases due to lack of safe drinking water. In response, EMC with the hand of PBF launched Clean Water Project since 2015 to improve community health and reduce water-related burdens in Gashena and surrounding areas.

We amid to bring measurable and sustainable improvements in public health by providing safe, accessible groundwater to underserved communities.

Gashena Primary School Water Project

As schools are one of our target groups to bring measurable and sustainable improvements to providing safe, accessible groundwater to needy schools. Gashena primary school fountain construction fully constructed by PBF sponsor and its 2.5 by 2.5 sizes and 7-meter depth and estimated to produce daily 40,000 liters and will serve daily for more than 2,000 Students, Teachers and school staffs.   

This water fountain will help  students, Teacher and school community to :-

  • Reduces waterborne diseases and promotes handwashing, especially after physical activities and before meals.
  • Educational Support: Improves student concentration and attendance by ensuring access to drinking and washing water on campus.
  • Menstrual Hygiene to Enables female students to manage their hygiene with dignity, reducing absenteeism.
  • Sustainability, Wastewater is reused for gardening and environmental education, encouraging responsible water use.

EMC Clean Water Project is transforming lives in Gashena by addressing urgent needs in health, education, and gender equity. We are committed to expanding this impactful work, one clean water source at a time.
