May 2025: It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Elisabeth Weber

Elisabeth died unexpectedly on May 13, 2025 at the age of 86. The whole PBF family is very sad. In Elisabeth, the Foundation has lost not only a committed member of the Board of Trustees (a member since 2004) and a generous benefactor, but also a sensitive, caring woman. She played a major role in shaping the philanthropic orientation of the PBF for decades and played an outstanding role herself in the many health care, poverty alleviation and emergency food aid projects. A recent example is her contribution to the operation of the PBF Memorial Hospital in Ethiopia / Lalibela. There and in many other places such as Kenya and Sri Lanka, hundreds of people are mourning with us these days. We will keep her in our hearts as the “Mother of PBF”.

Elisabeth was an inquisitive, open-minded woman with a special dedication to all the needy people of this world, to animals and to nature. Thanks to electronic media, she kept herself informed on a daily basis, communicated with her friends and thus remained spiritually vital and connected with half the world – despite her increasingly limited radius of movement. Her nature was quiet and modest, and that is how she left us. Her urn was buried on June 2 at the Wetzikon cemetery, surrounded by her closest friends. A dieu Elisabeth!
