May 2025: Kenya / Mathare: a visit at Page Vision School

Page Vision School receives a visit in Mathare/Nairobi

Page Vision School has been a focus of PBF for a decade. Donations of all kinds from individuals, organizations, and church communities are countless. We often receive clothing, shoes, and even used electronics like computers. We accept everything, although the biggest challenge is getting the donations to those in need, where they are needed. We try our best.

Back in 2015, we received jerseys and sneakers. As we distributed them to the various teams, we met Paul Onyach, who led a young girls’ soccer team in Mathare. George and Robert visited Paul at the school he founded and told us about the challenges Paul faces. There, he offers at least a basic education to children who have no chance of attending public school. Paul runs the school in abandoned tin and cardboard houses in Mathare. These are children whose parents cannot afford the costs of public schools, such as school uniforms, textbooks, and food. Paul, a trained teacher, and other volunteers teach in these huts, with the children sitting on the mud floors. The school is located in close proximity to the Nairobi River, which overflows its banks during heavy rains and is also a dumping ground for all kinds of garbage and waste.

PBF has been feeding these children for ten years through the One World Network. This is our registered NGO in Kenya. It is run by George. We also support their sports team and provide sanitary pads to the girls at this school.

We were delighted last week when Peter Bachmann visited this school and saw what we have been reporting on for years. The situation of these children, the poverty of their families, and the deplorable state of the environment are difficult to bear. We hope that these children can continue their education in a dignified environment in the future.
