January 2025: Ethiopia / Lalibela: Colorful Inauguration of the PBF Memorial Clinic

Ethiopia/Lalibela: The Colorful Inauguration of the PBF Memorial Clinic

PBF has multiple social services, and the golden Tasks have been serving everyone who needs help in Africa for the last 2 decades. Eagerly awaited, the largest PBF Health institution in Africa was inaugurated on January 7, 2025, in a holy city of Lalibela.

A total of 400 invited guests attended the inauguration program. St. Na’akutole’ab monastery administrator and his fellow priests, Trustee Eshetu from Lalibela Geez education, the local administration, women’s affairs, Lalibela Town health administration, Lalibela hospital doctors, Dan Amolo, PBF Kenya project director, and Lalibela communities were all in attendance. Some guests who attended the program expressed their excitement about the importance of opening the clinic.

The program was started with the blessing and prayer of the priest of St. Naakutoleab monastery, Aba Habtemariam, prayer, and cutting of the clinic rivan together with government officials. He followed his speech as follows. “The healing found with God, the medicine healing found with God: The plants and other things created by God are combined with human knowledge and used for medical treatment. As we have heard, Peters fame, he produced many health professions in Lalibela and surrounding areas. They are giving service for us. And now he has built and handed over this beautiful health facility today. His boys Getachew, Dr. Tadesse, and Abebe, as a trinity, are 3; we thank them for showing us this endeavor. May God help you to be a healer of our community.”.

The visitors are then given a comprehensive tour of the clinic’s many service components and its special health care packages by Abebe Zewdu and Dr. Tadesse Taye.

After the guests returned to the stage, Getachew Sale explained all about PBF works in Ethiopia, the mission and vision of the PBF memorial medium clinic.

The chairman of the Lalibela town, Belaynesh Sefew, speaks: ‘We are informed that over the past many years, PBF has provided housing for the homeless, education for students, food for the elders, and many social services for our people in the health sector; we can’t count it. Thanks to Peter and his team. I have visited this new clinic; its contribution to our community is immense.”

Lalibela Hospital head Mr. Abenezer “To be honest, I am very happy to see this institution being built, and I attended for the inauguration. Dr. Tadesse is our doctor in our hospital, so I am looking forward to cooperating with this clinic to provide quality health services for our people. Thank you for the PBF team.

From public representative Haile Dagnaw “I know the good work of PBF from childhood to now. No one has done as much for the people of Lalibela as PBF. It is a very good organization that works in place of the government for the Lalibela people. The general public should take care of and protect this sizable health facility that just opened for us today. Here many people are competing to build a hotel, and we are grateful when the creativity of the local youths is doing such a proud institution. Thank PBF and Peter for their tireless effort. Long live for him”.

Dan Amolo speaks: “It was 60 years ago that Dr. Peter Bachmann read the story of Lalibela while visiting Asia. As soon as he read the story, he decided to travel to Ethiopia to visit Lalibela. At the time, the plane flight was not to Africa. He started traveling by ship; he reached Djibouti, and then he finished his money and was unable to continue to Ethiopia. He came to Ethiopia after 40 years and visited Lalibela as a pilgrim. When he visited Lalibela, he saw very poor people and very hard lives. Together with his friend Getachew Aydagn, who died many years ago, he decided to help people with various social works. Getachew, Abebe, and Dr. Tadesse are the products of PBF in education support. These talented young boys committed to sustainable Peters’ philanthropy. Peter is still a pilgrim for Lalibela, and he is working for the community in different activities. We now have an institution and are expected to produce a productive community. PBF has many stakeholders and donors; those must be respected and grateful for their contribution to the quality community health service”.

The program concluded with a blessing and prayer at the clinic, and attendees were invited for meat at our PBF Pearl Restaurant.

It was a very successful and blessed opening ceremony!

Thanks to God and PBF, who make all possible
