Uganda: International Day of Persons with Disabilities
This day is intended to raise awareness of people with disabilities. On this day, the focus is on dignity and personal rights to personal well-being. For PBF, these people, especially young people and children, have been an important target group for years, including in Ethiopia and Kenya. Below we take an example from Uganda.
PBF continued its efforts to help disabled children in Soroti, Uganda. A striking number of disabled children are born in the villages in the Soroti area. The root cause of this could be the remoteness of the location. There is a lack of a state public health facility. As a result, the population has to travel enormous distances to access health services. But nothing more is known about the actual reasons for this frequency.
PBF has been working with Action of Love to the best of its ability for years. Recently, in June this year, PBF supported 21 mobility aids for disabled people: 10 wheelchairs, 7 medium wheelchairs, 3 tricycles and a walker.
These children desperately need our continued support to improve their quality of life and gain access to essential services.
