Reestablishing PBF’s Mission in Sri Lanka

Since the 1990s, PBF (Peter Bachmann Foundation) has been dedicated to uplifting marginalized communities and creating lasting positive change in Sri Lanka. For decades, PBF has focused on addressing the needs of the most vulnerable groups, with initiatives that make a tangible impact on their lives. The foundation’s work includes:

• Supporting Individuals with Mental Disabilities– PBF has provided essential support to individuals with mental disabilities, offering resources and care to improve their quality of life. The Center in Chilaw is since 2015 conducted by the Jesuit Fathers in Sri Lanka.
• Building Homesfor the Poorest – Through PBF’s housing projects, many families in extreme poverty have received the stability of a safe, permanent home.
• Assisting People with Disabilities and Chronic Illnesses– The foundation has been a consistent source of aid for those living with disabilities and lifelong illnesses, helping them navigate daily challenges with dignity.
• Educational Supportfor Disadvantaged Children – From basic education to higher studies, PBF has invested in the future of underprivileged children, giving them opportunities to break the cycle of poverty.
• Promoting Religious and Ethnic Reconciliation– In a country with diverse cultural backgrounds, PBF has worked tirelessly to foster understanding and unity among different communities.

These efforts, started in the 1990s, are a testament to PBF’s unwavering commitment to empowering individuals and communities. As the new Sri Lanka Coordinator, I am honored to support the reestablishment and revitalization of PBF’s initiatives with renewed energy and dedication. Together, we will continue these impactful projects, striving to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.
